2008 Car of the Year Award Winners - The Emotional Connection Between Car and Consumer

Honda Accord

Road & Travel Magazine announced its 12th Annual International Car of the Year (ICOTY) Award winners Saturday night in Detroit. The black-tie bash, in now traditional ICOTY fashion, followed an Academy Awards-like format, with auto-industry stars, opening of envelopes to drum rolls, heartfelt speeches and lots of glitter, glamour, live music and fun.

The ICOTY Awards were founded by Courtney Caldwell, editor-in-chief of Road & Travel Magazine in 1996. They focus on the "emotional connection between car and consumer." This year's ICOTY jury of top automotive journalists included Edmunds.com Editorial Director Kevin Smith (who also co-hosted the awards ceremony) and Inside Line contributor Ken Gross.

this liswt of winners just blows.

theres an emtional connection between anyone and the accord? lol. ya the pay off these guys got from honda.

and the town and country. Truck? lol, thats a 1980s dodge with new paint, just as ugly as ever with a 40k price tag

I agree, Opfreak. The new Caravan/Town and Country has terrible exterior styling! The older model looks far better! What were Chrysler thinking? Maybe they thought minivan owners don't care for style?

i read the list again.

the only winner of a car on that list is the R8. everything else is fluff. even the hybrid taheo I like.

I agree. What an odd list. Including the Town&Country removes all credibility from this competition, IMHO.
