Deal of the Week: Mitsubishi Galant
Mitsubishi has had a tough time in the US over the last decade, with sales falling at a precipitous rate. In the first three months of this year, Mitsubishi's US sales have fallen more than 50%. Meanwhile, in Canada, Mitsubishi's sales are actually up this year. Product, as always, is the key here. While Mitsubishi can offer up a winner like the Lancer Evolution X, which has been a relative hit in the Edmunds' long-term fleet, most of their offerings in this country are either overlooked or are just not competitive. The Galant mid-sized sedan is certainly one of them. But as they say, money talks. See what it has to say after the jump.
The Galant may not have the best interior materials and its lack of stability control might put off more safety conscious buyers, but it does have good crash test scores, a powerful engine and a roomy interior. And now through the end of the month, Mitsubishi is offering a variety of cash and financing incentives.
On 2008 Galants, dealers have $4000 to use at their discretion, but hopefully to pass on to the buyer. In lieu of the cash, consumers can get 0% financing for up to 72 months. There is also $500 for current Mitsubishi owners. For 2009 model Galants, buyers can choose between $2500 cash or 0% financing for as long as 60 months. There is also the $500 loyalty cash to current Mitsubishi owners.

Woo! 544! Yeah!
The Galant would be more intriguing if they still had a VR4. Give it Evo AWD and twin turbo that 3.8L with mid-300s in horsepower, add in a DSG or proper stick shift, and fewer people would care that it's ugly.
