FAQ Friday: How Can I Compare Vehicles?

As always, Edmunds provides more than one way to skin a cat. In fact, we've got five. Which is good, because comparing vehicles will teach you a lot about the individual models.

1. Editors' Side-by-Side Comparisons
Our Comparison Center provides many side-by-side comparisons of two similar vehicles selected by our Editorial staff, based on their extensive industry experience and first-hand testing experience.

2. Build Your Own Side-by-Side Comparison
Choose Build Your Own Comparison to select up to five models -- or even different trims -- to compare side-by-side (see photo). You can print out the entire comparison with all the features, ratings and specs by choosing "Printable View."

3. Popular Model Comparisons
When researching a specific vehicle, you can compare it to the four others most often researched by Edmunds.com visitors who looked at that vehicle. To do so, go to the "Reviews & Specs" tab for the vehicle you're researching, scroll down the left-hand menu to "Helpful Tools," and then click the "Compare Popular Models" link. For example, here is a Popular Model Comparison for the Honda Civic SI.

4. Inside Line Comparison Tests
We offer a wide variety of Comparison Tests on our auto enthusiast site, Inside Line, including some of the hotest models available.

5. Edmunds Comparison Tests
We've recently added a category for Comparison Tests on our consumer-focused blog, Edmunds Daily. They focus on the more practical vehicles and everyday needs of our readers. 

These comparos, as we call them, are really effective research tools. Like many of our grateful readers, you may end up saying, "I had never considered the such-and-such model, but discovered on Edmunds that it gave me a lot more for my money than the one I was considering."
