Deal of the Week: Suzuki SX4

2009 Suzuki sx4 x-over.jpg

Everyone seems to have their favorite little "hole in the wall" restaurant where they can get a great tasting meal that doesn't break the bank. While it will never be confused with fine dining, or have the mass-market appeal of a national chain, that restaurant is the place you meet your family and friends for good food and good times.

The Suzuki SX4 is just like that favorite little eatery: not as well known, a bit quirky and not much to look at, but very satisfying and affordable. With hatchback versatility, available AWD capability and a look that will never be confused with a Toyota Corolla, owners of the SX4 rate it very highly and seem quite happy with their off-beat purchase.

However, the SX4's sales number pale in comparison to the top sellers in the segment, so in an effort to help stimulate consumer interest, Suzuki has some attractive incentives on its little hole-in-the-wall crossover. Learn about them after the jump.

Through the end of August, buyers can choose between cash rebates of $1000-$2000 (depending on transmission choice and region) or 0% financing for up to 48 months. Current Suzuki owners can also claim a $1000 owner loyalty rebate. Students and active members of the military will also qualify for a $500 rebate.

If you are like me and don't like to see yourself coming and going when you are driving, you don't require class-leading fuel economy, appreciate a 7-year/100K mile powertrain warranty and just like to be a bit different, you should take a look at the Suzuki SX4.

I really want to like this model. The so-so gas mileage (22/29) and sketchy dealer network give me pause.

The "built-in" portable nav is great but it needs a USB port.

Every owner I've talked to in the real world really likes their SX4 wagon.

I think these cars are great, but since Suzuki closed all the dealerships in the Tampa area (there are four no closer than 20 miles from where I live) it's a long haul just to see one. By then I'd have passed three Honda dealerships.

Yeah...I have the model pictured with automatic transmission and touring package...I've had it almost three months now....I thought I would grow to like it...BUT I don't...I consistently get so-so mileage from this tiny car...i've had it in the shop several times already for airbag sensors and non-functioning keyless entry/start key fobs. The passenger seat was replaced....it now squeaks if anyone sits in it. It goes back into the shop tomorrow for more of the same...and yet again I will not be getting a loaner car. I've lost so much time and money dealing with this car. This car is so history as soon as I can trade it in.

I'm guessing there is a certain driver who can appreciate what the SX4 crossover offers...but it's not me. A cheap car is simply that.

Subaru Impreza > Suzuki SX4

Come on, Lee! :o)
