Recalled: 2009 and 2010 Nissan Altima and Maxima

nissan-altima-recall.jpg

Nissan has announced that it is recalling 26,398 2009 and 2010 Altimas and Maximas because a strut rod could become dislodged from its mount, affecting vehicle stability and increasing the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Nissan notes that if the strut rod became compromised, it "would begin to make a loud noise audible to the vehicle operator."

There are no reports of injuries or crashes due to this issue, but as a precaution, Nissan dealers will replace left and ride side front strut insulators for free. The recall is expected to begin on October 5. Owners may contact Nissan at (615) 725-1000.

Strut rod makes me think of a hood or trunk component. It's funny how they word it.
