Ford Recalls 4.5 Million More Vehicles for Fire Hazard

Ford and Mazda are issuing a voluntary recall of an additional 4.5 million vehicles for a faulty cruise control deactivation switch, the latest of eight recalls for the same problem. The switch can leak hydraulic fluid, overheat and then burn, even if the cruise control isn't activated or the vehicle is turned off or unattended.
Although Ford is unaware of any accidents, injuries or fatalities related to the problem, it is urging all owners of recalled vehicles to immediately make a service appointment with a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer and not to park vehicles in garages or near homes until repairs are made.
Vehicles included in the current recall:
1995-2003 Ford Windstar
2000-2003 Ford Excursion diesel
1993-1997 and 1999-2003 Ford F-Super Duty diesel
1992-2003 Ford Econoline
1995-2002 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer
1995-1997 and 2001-2003 Ford Ranger
1995-1997 and 2001-2003 Mazda B-Series pickup trucks
1994 Ford F53 motorhome
The NHTSA advises consumers to watch for warning signs: cruise control systems that stop working or can't be activated, brake lights that stop working, brake lights and ABS warning lights illuminating on the dashboard, or not being able to get the vehicle out of park.
Ford is notifying dealers of the new recall, numbered 09S09, this week, and is sending letters to owners between October 26th and December 7th.
The combined recalls involve 16 million vehicles. For information on the previous recalls, visit www.SaferCar.gov.

Ford is aware of "accidents". I know of a couple instances where peoples houses burnt down after their Ford caught on fire in their garage. It is the right thing to recall the affected vehicles but take some responsibility!!!
