2009 Saturn Vue
Pop quiz: Of the Toyota Yaris, Chevrolet Aveo and Saturn Vue, which is cheapest to insure?
If you guessed the Yaris or the Aveo, your answer is incorrect. The Vue actually offers a lower insurance rate than both these vehicles. This achievement is no fluke. If you were to look at a list of models offering the lowest insurance expense, you'd find that the best bets are often SUVs and crossover-type vehicles like the Vue.
Of course, some crossovers and SUVs offer better deals on the insurance front than others. Click here to learn which 10 are cheapest to insure.

2010 Jaguar XF-Series
Insurance is one of the most frustrating automotive expenses, simply because it involves many variables that are difficult to predictably manage -- variables such as your address and your accident history.
However, there is one key factor in your overall insurance rate that you can readily manipulate: the make and model of the car you drive. Click here for a list of the 10 sedans most likely to command the lowest insurance premiums.

Sifting through countless insurance premiums for almost 300 vehicle models, Insure.com
has released a list of the most expensive and least expensive cars to insure. Factors that contribute to high premiums are the frequency and high cost of claims, and it should also be noted that newer models may be adjusted to lower premiums when more data is gathered. Also noteworthy is the absence of exotic car brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti -- then again, if you could afford one, insurance is probably not that much of a concern.
Topping the list as the most expensive car to insure is the Nissan GT-R -- adding to the high cost of maintenance, as we've seen firsthand. On the other side of the spectrum is the Smart ForTwo, another vehicle in our long-term stable, which registered as one of the least expensive to insure.

(Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is proposing both a GPS driving tax and a gas tax.)
There are all manner of schemes being proposed to fill the dwindling state and federal coffers, many of which often focus on hitting the wallets of the driving public.
But rare is the state that has two driving-taxation plans which are as simultaneously enlightened and enraging as those proposed in the state of Massachusetts. Both have been promoted by the state's Governor, Deval Patrick.
The first of Patrick's initiatives definitely falls on the troubling side: the Governor is pushing a plan - "controversial" would be putting it mildly - to install Global Positioning System (GPS) chips in vehicle inspection stickers that would be used to tax the vehicle owner for the number of miles they drive.
